Dog Island Offcuts - first post!

Hello world!

The Dog Island Offcuts store is up, and the first woodworking plan has been created.

If we were in it for the money, this would probably be the worst business in the history of capitalism. 😏 But the shop and this blog will always be meant for sharing interesting ideas and addressing common problems.

Dog Island Offcuts is based out of a small space. If we had 10k square feet of woodshop, dust collection runs everywhere, and three-phase outlets every 20 feet, we'd be making bookshelves until the salmon runs ended and griping about where to get 200 sheets of the good plywood. But I'm trying to hang my battery-powered miter saw on the wall to keep it out of the way, so different priorities.

The projects that immediately catch my interest are ones that speak to being efficient, that maximize space, and that can be used to solve a really tough workflow problem. If the idea is interesting, we'll talk it about it here. And if the instructions make sense, we'll throw the plan onto the Etsy store.

I built a workbench that matched up with the table saw to act as an outfeed table; that's the kind of thing that we love. And if you spot an idea like that, we can do a little collaborative design work. Want a small table that lifts your jobsite table saw to exactly 34" high, and is also a portable stand-alone router table? We love that shoot. Drop us a line and we can talk.
