WRoC for the DeWalt ToughSystem platform

After the first Dog Island listing went live, I had the occasional question about a Workbench Rolling Cart with different types or brands of toolboxes. The tolerances and measurements for fitting the Milwaukee Packouts into the WRoC were pretty fine - it would be tricky to simply drop in something new. But the process that I followed for team Red could be repeated on another platform. So I took the feedback that there might be at least one customer for the DeWalt ToughSystem setup.

Each project has been unique - I can't say that things are falling into patterns yet. But, there is a trend for the toolbox sizes. Something in the XL size at the bottom, Large/Medium for the next later, and Small for the top. I was also sent a picture that showed the combination of XL / drawer unit / Small.

Putting a two- or three- drawer unit into a rolling cart felt a little odd. The units have their own drawers, so the soft target is just to get them into a rolling cart without needing a drawer slide?

It helped that the Large toolbox and both drawer units were almost identical in size. And I went and laid hands on all of the toolboxes in order to get an accurate picture of the measurements - best to be sure about the stack size. With a little tweak (around 1/8") the middle drawer could be setup to contain any of these units. And the design could pull double duty by 1) satisfying a specific customer desire and 2) maintaining compatibility and flexibility.

So here's the new Workbench Rolling Cart, sized for DeWalt ToughSystem toolboxes - DWST06400, DWST06300, DWST06165 - with option for DWST06320 or DWST06330.

The workbench is definitely on the tall side - 41" high. But this is just an extension of the height of the toolboxes.

A variety of components could be re-used, so the SketchUp work wasn't too painful. And the ability to modify the dimensions of components was highly convenient.

Not a bad project. I will be curious to see the pictures of this Cart once somebody actually completes their build.
